Boosting and Master Techniques

What's happening pplz?

I'm still kinda relatively new at producing, so I have been running into issues boosting and mastering tracks. Just recently I tried using my mbox to record through my mixing board. Got good results, except the annoying analog hiss in the background( come to find out, I need a better sound card)

So what would you suggest I do as far as mastering and improving the sound quality of tracks?

Do the EQ-ing thoughtfully, when you doing limiting, dont limit it too much cause track will be to flat, and not good for ear.
When you want to give some air to the track boost highs about 2dB, and always cut frequences from 40hz to down, it give some space for high.
