Best Sounding Sample Packs!!!

Postby beatchemist on Sat Jun 20, 2009 6:09 pm

So there are hundreds of Refills on the market, some sound good some dont sound so good. Which Refills do you think have the best sound? and aka im mainly talking about wavs and not loops. This is good because instead of spending hundreds of dollars on trial and error, you can get a pretty good idea of which are good picks for drum sounds bass, pianos, synths etc.

Lets hear it people!!!

The Vengeance sample packs are great but they're like $100 a pop.

Hehe, I rarely use pre-made drum loops. I'll maybe throw an amen here and there to break it up a bit.

I've got nothing against people using them but I avoid using pre-made loops, just doesn't feel like mine, I feel like I cheated. It's similar with VST presets too, though I tend to use a lot of presets, not a very good sound engineer haha.

I don't usually use loops, but sometimes I sample individual drum sounds from loops. The only sample library I have used heavily is this one:

http://www.turntablelab.com/production_ ... 12106.html

And it is fantastic. Amen Brother, Funky Drummer, and hundreds of other breaks chopped straight out of their original songs, straight off clean vinyl copies. The only downside is that they come in the format of a hundred-track audio cd with multiple breaks on one track, separated by 1 second of silence. Not the most convenient way to get them, but it doesn't take too much work to get what you're looking for.
